Ontario clinics hiring UK-trained GPs
MapleMedic Ltd. is an Ontario-licensed recruiter, licence REC-0000018763. We place UK-trained family doctors (GPs) in Ontario clinics. We can also discuss roles for UK consultants (specialists). We support each doctor through CFPC and CPSO licensing steps; the decisions rest with the CFPC and the CPSO. MapleMedic never charges doctors a fee, directly or indirectly. Clinics that hire through us pay us.
By UK Doctors, For UK Doctors
Hire UK-trained GPs with a recruiter that keeps things simple. We focus on family doctor recruitment in Ontario, built for Ontario clinics.
Our main focus is UK-trained family doctors (GPs). We also speak with family doctors trained in Ireland, Australia, the United States and other countries about roles in Ontario. Licensing routes differ by country, and the CFPC and CPSO decide eligibility.
Why UK-trained GPs suit Ontario family practice
UK GPs who completed GMC-accredited GP training and hold the MRCGP may be eligible for CFPC certification without examination through the CFPC's Equivalent Jurisdictional Pathway.
How fees work
MapleMedic never charges doctors a fee, directly or indirectly. Clinics that hire through us pay us.
No fee is ever charged to or recovered from the doctor, including through salary clawback. Fee terms are set out in our clinic agreement.
Licensing: what to expect
For eligible UK-trained GPs with the MRCGP, the main route is CFPC certification without examination, then CPSO registration. We support doctors through these steps; the decisions rest with the CFPC and the CPSO.
Official sources: the CPSO's policy on certification without examination and the CFPC's Equivalent Jurisdictional Pathway page. Start dates vary, and the CPSO decides.
Work permits: the clinic's role
A UK GP will usually need a work permit as well as CPSO registration. An employer-specific work permit needs a job offer, and an employer step may apply. IRCC explains this on its employer-specific work permit page.
Any immigration steps on the clinic's side should be handled by its own immigration lawyer or licensed RCIC.
Disclaimer: MapleMedic is not a licensed immigration consultant or lawyer and does not give immigration advice. Anything on this page about immigration is general information only. For advice on your situation, speak to a licensed immigration consultant (RCIC) or immigration lawyer.
How we work with your clinic
- We learn how your clinic works: onboarding, supervision and the team.
- We look for a fit in values and ways of working. We never match on any ground protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code.
- We aim to meet the clinic's owners.
- We handle information in line with our privacy notice.
Specialty consultants
UK consultants (specialists) follow a different route from GPs. For many UK-certified specialists, the CPSO may issue a provisional certificate of registration; it sets out this route on the CPSO's page on certification in approved jurisdictions. We can also discuss roles for specialty consultants.
